9. CONFERENCES/SEMINARS

The Deportment has organized a National Seminar on ‘Innovative Technologies in Construction of Concrete Structures’ (InTech Concrete-2003) during 7-8 Feb. 2003.

The Seminar was intended to be a common platform to bring together Engineers, Researchers, Architects, Builders and Managers to assess the emerging trends in concrete constructions. More than 150 delegates participated from all over India. About 50 technical papers were presented.

The faculty also involved in organizing many other seminars and conferences at the National and International level.

11. CIVIL ENGINEERING ASSOCIATION (CEA)

The CEA was formed with the primary purpose of exposing our students, civil- engineers-to-be, to the rigorous of the profession. The association promotes the talents of students in extra and co- curricular activities. With both students and faculty as its members the association is most active in the Institution.

CEA is responsible for conducting a lecture series, dispensed by distinguished academicians and practitioners of the trade, in order to educate our students. It conducts the seminars, debate, quizzes, personality contests to improve the subject knowledge and organization skills among the students.

The civil engineering association has been associated in conducting the work shops and seminars at the National level and inter-branch competitions at the Institution level.

CEA has actively involved in conducting the National level students seminar teknodeon in 2000, 2004, 2005 and 2009. The Seminar was envisaged as a show-case for all the technical and creative talents of students from all over India. Competitions were held on technical paper presentation in all branches of Engineering, website designing, product designing and programming contests along with other extra-curricular activities such as quizzes, debates, games, sports and cultural events.

Philosophy:
The history of civilization and culture is written in the debris of construction work of its time. Right from the huts to these days high rise buildings tell the gradual improvement of human civilization. The remains of construction speak the history of rise and fall of human civilization. The slogan “Sruzanam Sabhyatha Sanrachnaya: Sotha:” means Construction is a way for the formation of civilization.

Man is mortal and his memory is short, but the remains of construction bring him live the grandeur and marvel of civilization of mankind dwelt through ages.

The logo depicts wheel and Jantar-Matnar. The wheel shown in logo is symbol of time, continuity and progress. Its basic outline is inspired by the famous wheel at the sun temple of Konark. The Jantar-Mantar in Delhi is a Civil Construction made to measure time. It speaks of the great Civil Engineering will to capture time.

We hope that as the time moves on, the Civil Engineering Association progress and prosper with brilliance comparable only to that of sun.
